Je m'appelle Rita. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. I studied at Indiana U. and U of IL. I became a Home Economics teacher majoring in housing. I taught sewing in Wash., D.C. and then moved to Michigan where we raised 2 daughters, now aged 38 and 40 who have blessed me with 3 grandsons. I then retrained as a legal assistant and worked for a large law firm for 10 years before returning to teaching where I found my calling as a cooking teacher. I've traveled to France 5 times and to other countries in Europe. I am currently a widow, retired for 2 years and quite in the mood for travel and adventure.
Bonjour, mes amies. Je m'appelle Sherrill W. I am originally from Texas and recently retired from Dykema Gossett, where I was a partner practicing corporate tax litigation. I studied French for 5 years at university (too many years ago to mention) and this is my third trip to France, the last being 20 years ago. I am especially interested in European history. I have two grown children, Lynn and Donald, and am hoping for grandchildren someday. My passions are reading and horseback riding. I am looking forward to sharing this trip with my many new friends and my long-time friends, Rita and Linda.

Le voyage de l'amitié--good name for our trip ;} I want to hear more about your horseback riding adventures. Looking so forward to getting to know you all better!
ReplyDeleteRita--you have so blessed us with your culinary creations en classe. Won't our cooking class be super fun? I have a book recommendation for you: Hungry for France!
ReplyDeleteRita, thank you for opening your home to us a few weeks ago and thank you for that wonderful balsamic vinegar. Magnifique! I have been to Lexington, KY a great deal and just love Kentucky. Cooking is a favorite hobby of mine when I have the time and inclination. I work full time and teach part time as well as visit my children and grandchildren so it is a busy, wonderful life. So glad you are on the trip! Jan
ReplyDeleteSherrill, I had to leave our meeting early so I didnt get much of a chance to say hello to you. Five years of college French? That is marvelous.Reading is a wonderful hobby of mine too. My sister and I have been reading books together since 1990. This has been a great adventure for me since I had never really read fiction. I look forward to talking to you about retirement because I imagine your litigation work was extremely demanding...... See you soon, Jan
